Dear Information Line Reader,
Recently David Walker, comptroller general of the Unites States, sat down with CBS 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft for an interview on the possible financial troubles the U.S. is heading toward.
We as ASI found this interview both timely and provocative. Please take the time to either view the video or read the article.
U.S. Heading For Financial Trouble?
March 4, 2007
"(CBS) When the stock market plunges like it did this week, everyone pays attention. The man you're about to meet says hardly anyone is paying attention to what really threatens our financial future. Like an Old Testament prophet, David Walker has been traveling the country, urging people to "wake up before it's too late."
But David Walker is no wild-eyed zealot. As Steve Kroft reports, David Walker is an accountant, the nation's top accountant to be exact, the comptroller general of the United States. He has totaled up our government's income, liabilities, and future obligations and concluded the numbers simply don't add up. And he's not alone. Its been called the "dirty little secret everyone in Washington knows" - a set of financial truths so inconvenient that most elected officials don't even want to talk about them, which is exactly why David Walker does."

CMHC PASSES NEW BILL C-37
It is with great pleasure that we are able to tell you that the passing of a new bill on last Monday has now changed the loan to value acceptance and waiving of the CMHC fees. For all mortgages previously funded and written had a percentage fee added to the mortgages of 75.1% or greater. The percentages varied higher as the loan to value amounts increased. As of now the loan amount less then 80% will be waiving these fees. In traditional manor that 5% difference means a great deal for those who are Self-Employed, Business For-Self, Commissioned or Hard to Prove Income earners. On refinances for these income earners means that they can gain more on the Equity take outs and less for down payments on Purchases. As I mentioned earlier the ability to put 25% down to now being 20% down is very promising. As for the differences, based on a RE-Finance or Purchase of $500,000 would be $25,000.00.
As for the every other type of income earner, just the ability to save or waive the CMHC fees all together is a refreshing start to the Spring Fever. You may have a few questions on these changes and how it will affect your existing files being processed since these changes? Please feel free to call or email me at any time.
Henry Burris 2ND Annual All Star Weekend
On May 18th through to the 20th, Henry Burris and his partners with Big Brothers and Big Sisters will be holding their annual event. I had really enjoyed last year’s event with Henry and all his All-Stars from the CFL and NFL. Along with Henry and his Stampeders you will rub with other celebrities, foot ball fans and media types. All for a great cause. This three-day All-Star Weekend can be packed with fun, excitement and great memories for yourself, friends and your hard-core Stamp fan children.
