We have seen rates go up from 3.89% to 4.2% for the 5 year Fixed rate [lower rate may apply] just over the weekend. Will there be more of a rate hike? I will do the best to keep you posted. Higher interest rates could be coming sooner, says Bank of Canada governor

OTTAWA - Canadians could be facing higher interest rates sooner than previously thought as a result of stubborn inflation and stronger economic growth, Bank of Canada Mark Carney said Wednesday.
Carney did not declare higher rates were on the way, but issued his clearest signal to date that his year-old commitment to keep the policy rate at the record 0.25 per cent until July was "expressly conditional" on inflation remaining tame.

Weekly Market Commentary
TSX climbs 1.6% on the week amid signs global growth is accelerating
North American equity markets kicked-off the Easter weekend on an upbeat note Thursday after a series of economic releases suggested the global economic recovery is gaining momentum.
Figures released Thursday by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) showed activity in the U.S. manufacturing sector expanded in March for the eighth consecutive month and at its fastest pace since July of 2004. The ISM’s manufacturing diffusion index rose to 59.6% last month from 56.5% a month earlier.
Similarly, figures released Wednesday showed Canada’s economic growth accelerated in January at its fastest pace in more than three years. Statistics Canada figures showed the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 0.6% on a month-over-month basis in the first month of the year. January’s expansion suggests Canada’s economy is showing no sign of slowing from the solid pace it established in the final three months of 2009... Learn More
